The making of
I don’t think I’ve ever had this much fun making a piece. For seven or eight weeks I kept building this one out, another face, another little story, another piece of trouble in the room. It’s easily the largest thing I’ve ever made, but that almost became beside the point. I loved figuring out how one thing could lead to the next, until the whole place finally came alive.
Some Details
I didn’t count the rolls of tape I used and I lost track of all the details in there. Photos don’t quite get across the lighting effects and many layer of tape, but here are a few details anyway.
The Display
This is where I landed with the framing: five black frames, almost seamless, carrying the piece as one long image. I think it looks great that way. The black divisions mostly disappear into the work, and on a concrete wall the whole thing has a strong presence.
